Wales fly-half Rhys Patchell upbeat after ‚challenging year’

Rhys Patchell admits he has suffered”a challenging year” before the return to the Wales Test team against Ireland on Saturday.
Scarlets fly-half Patchell continue began for his country on the 2018 summer trip to Argentina, when he kicked 20 points as Wales beat the Pumas 30-12 in Santa Fe.
A torn hamstring and concussion issues then combined to disrupt the 26-year-old’s international career, and place his location in Wales’ 31-man World Cup team in question.

„It has been a challenging year, that is for sure,” Patchell stated. „I won’t be looking back on it (last season) a lot of times.
„It was not the disaster many outlets made it sound like, however it wasn’t the year you’d like moving to a World Cup.
„A couple of concussions were tough to deal with, and tearing a hamstring wasn’t ideal. It stuttered any momentum that I was hoping to pick up throughout the season.
„Game one that I had been concussed, came back, began discovering a bit of rhythm and got concussed again.
„I came back, then tore my hamstring and you are forever chasing your own tail. It’s what it is where we are, and we are . Fortunately, it has worked out for the ideal.”
Together with Gareth Anscombe ruled out of this World Cup Patchell was competing to back up Dan Biggar at Japan, and they all had a final 40-minute marvel at the Principality Stadium seven days.
It had been Patchell who won the coaches’ votemeaning he prevented a replica of missing , as he’d done for the 2015 World Cup when he was one of an initial contingent cut against Wales’ tournament training group that is enlarged.
„He (Evans) fell me a text after the announcement, and I replied,” Patchell added. „This was very good .
„Of course I felt . I could completely empathise with him, having been there myself four years back.
„It is not a simple position to be in. That is game, someone has to miss out. I believed for all nine of the boys who got text or a phone call.
„Jarrod and I were distinctly aware that as a 10 you have to do what is best for your group. You may just deal with what is in front of you.
„I had been talking to friends and family to the Friday night stating’this is it, we will see how it goes’.
„It’s hard, trying to become as excellent as you can on the day. When the cards fall your way, great. That’s the way it goes When they don’t.
„The attention was being as great as I might be for the team, attempting to drive the team around the park and get us into good positions and receive our shape going. Fortunately, the coaches liked what they found, I suppose.”
