Britain’s Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski recovered by a set down against Jackson Withrow and Americans Jack Sock to achieve the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at the US Open.
Battling back from a break in the next set, Murray and Skupski rallied to win 4-6 6-1 7-6 (7-4) on Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Even the 15th seeds have now won eight of the previous 11 matches as a pair.
Murray is also in mixed doubles activity later on Wednesday.
Partnering American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, the winners confront Rajeev Ram and third seeds Samantha Stosur to get a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Luke Bambridge, together with Japan’s Ben McLachlan, will competition a US Open quarter-final against high seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal along with Robert Farah, with the winner of that match meeting Skupski and Murray from the last four.
The US Open is Skupski’s and Murray second Grand Slam outing with exited Wimbledon in the first round.
Scot Murray, 33, has raised a doubles title every year.
He won the men’s doubles using Bruno Soares at 2016 and the mixed doubles in 2017 and at 2018.
At 4-3 up in the first against Sock and Withrow, as the Americans broke at the very next game, two broken points which could have enabled them to serve for the set were missed by the Britons and were immediately punished.
The Britons responded emphatically breaking serve twice and conceding only 1 game in a dominant showing.
The momentum dissipates more in the next since the US pair raced into a 4-1 edge, but Murray and Skupski levelled before shutting out the critical tie-break together with three unanswered points.
