Trent Alexander-Arnold says teams must be punished for racism
The Trent Alexander-Arnold of liverpool states fans and teams should be punished for racism after fighter chants were targeted at Romelu Lukaku in a match against Cagliari.
The Inter Milan striker was targeted during the 2-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday 1, but the German FA’s sporting justice panel ruled Wednesday the chants could not be considered discriminatory concerning this”scale and realisation”.
Alexander-Arnold says their fans and all groups have to be penalized for episodes of discrimination.
„Clearly I feel that the Italian FA had their reasons for not punishing them [Cagliari] however I think each team ought to be punished. Each group’s fans should be punished for those sorts of activities,” that the Liverpool full-back stated.
„It shouldn’t be occurring in the sport, nowadays especially. I believe it’s disappointing to see that.
„But I am positive that Lukaku particularly is really a strong enough personality to break through that, like you’ve seen straightaway -he also scored the punishment and was able to shut the fans up straightaway.
„This was a positive for him and now I am sure he will bounce back from this and continue doing what he can, scoring goals”
After receiving misuse in the wake of conceding a penalty in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League loss at 28, liverpool left-back Andy Robertson reportedly deactivated his Twitter accounts.
Alexander-Arnold says that the players be sure the Scotsman has of the support he needs from his team-mates and will rally round Robertson.
„He’s mentally a very powerful character, so I am sure whatever reason he had for doing this was for the best for him personally ,” Alexander-Arnold added.
„So, I think if we see each other next, it will be definitely to see the way he is, be certain that nothing is too bad. I believe all the lads would have texted him and spoken to himpersonally, to make certain everything would be OK.”
