Ryan Kent could be out for a couple of weeks, says Rangers boss Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has proposed Ryan Kent could be missing for a couple of months — that could observe absentee Jamie Murphy’s yield sooner rather than later.
Before coming off with a hamstring injury, kent lasted just 41 minutes on his Rangers debut that was second on Saturday.
Murphy was out since sustaining a knee injury against Kilmarnock last August but Kent’s lack and Jordan Jones’ knee difficulty have left Rangers brief of choices out broad ahead of a hectic fixture program which begins against Feyenoord.
Gerrard has highlighted the significance of managing Brandon Barker carefully once he scored his first goal having substituted Kent and he is currently contemplating bringing back Murphy to the fold in the not too distant future.
„What we have tried to do here is build a group – not only a team,” he told the club’s official site. „So it is that realisation that if you’re not at the XI you need to be prepared to come on in the side, and if you are away from the squad, then be pushing in training to enter your 18.
„That is what we want and we believe will bring the finest in everybody really. We suffered an injury and suffered from an injury to Ryan Kent, so Brandon came on and made a contribution, which ought to do his confidence the world of good.
„We only need to be careful with Brandon now that we don’t almost think that he can play every match today – we need to manage him in the perfect way also.”
Gerrard added:”It also may make us push Jamie Murphy forward somewhat faster to offer us another option as we’ll soon be without Jordan Jones for probably another three to four months and it appears like Ryan will be a couple of weeks also, so we might have to push Jamie somewhat faster.
„I believe he is ready to be part of the 18, but I am not sure he will be prepared to move in and begin games in series.
„He is certainly training well, and I think in the previous week to ten days, you can see some of his strength coming back, so he’s definitely prepared to contribute, but I’ll need to handle his minutes that match him and be patient with him too.”
