Rugby World Cup 2019: Magnus Bradbury replaces injured Hamish Watson for Scotland
Scotland flanker Hamish Watson has been ruled out for the Remainder of the World Cup, Using Edinburgh back-row Magnus Bradbury.
The Edinburgh suffered a serious knee injury during Sunday’s 27-3 conquer to Ireland in their Pool A opener in Yokohama and will play no part.
Gregor Townsend has turned into Watson’s team team-mate Magnus Bradbury for cover following a scan confirmed the information that the 27-year-old had been fearing.
Because he had been caught with Tadhg Furlong and Cian Healy watson was heard letting out a scream just before half-time.
He had been shot in the field on a stretcher and was seen looking disconsolate on the bench with his round his left leg.
No timescale has been set on his comeback interval however, his World Cup is over.
Bradbury, who’d already travelled to Japan on stand-by as a precautionary measure after fellow Edinburgh back-rower Jamie Ritchie suffered a facial injury in the Dark Blues’ final warm-up evaluation, will now combine Townsend’s team officially because they gear up for their do-or-die battle with Samoa next Monday.
The reduction to Ireland was a bitter blow to Townsend’s strategies for the championship and he acknowledges losing Watson is another painful set-back.
The head coach said:”While there’s a high likelihood of picking up injuries during a World Cup, it’s almost disappointing to see someone needing to head home.
„We feel for Hamish who’d worked so tough for this opportunity and wish him well in his recovery”
