Ronald Koeman: Netherlands manager proud of Virgil van Dijk as captain
Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman isreally proud to own Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk as the captain of the national group.
The couple worked together for a year at Southampton after his compatriot Van Dijk was bought by Koeman out of Celtic at 2015 for 13m.
The 28-year-old has won the Champions League with Liverpool and picked up the award for 2018/19 for UEFA Mens Player of the Year.
Koeman picked Van Dijk as the captain for Netherlands in 2018 and the director says:Hes got a excellent character and also among the reasons hes the captain. He is also a good example for the nation and a good example for the team. We are really pleased to have him as a captain in the national team.
Winning the title of best European player is an incredible accomplishment for him. He had support from the folks in Southampton.
