Neil Harris steps down as Millwall manager
With David Livermore also departing The Den, neil Harris has stepped down.
His final game in charge was that the 1-1 draw away to Luton on Wednesday night.
Harris was the longest serving manager that is permanent from the Sky Bet Championship, having pulled over in March 2015 following spells as caretaker boss at Millwall.
The 42-year-old became the Lions all time leading goalscorer for a participant, scoring 125 goal.
He guided them to two FA Cup quarter-finals and some promotion while in charge.
Harris also helped establish Millwall as a Championship side in recent seasons and leaves both the south east London club 18th in the table.
Their final league victory came in the 1-0 win over Sheffield on August 17.
Adam Barrett was put in temporary charge of the team and will lead them in Saturdays game against Leeds.
Millwall chairman John Berylson paid tribute in an announcement on the club site to Harris.
Firstly I would like to put on record my sincere gratitude to Neil for all his hard work, commitment, dedication and inarguable success as manager of this wonderful football club, Berylson stated.
Throughout his time in charge we have achieved so much so many of his best moments as manager could dwell long in the memory of Millwall supporters fortunate to have seen and loved them.
Neils accomplishments ensure he is listed alongside some of the club greatest-ever directors, bettering his legendary standing in Millwall.
Alongside his coaching team, Neil worked tirelessly to establish a culture both on and off the pitch which was befitting of the clubs history and heritage and it has undoubtedly been attained.
He has laid tremendous foundations from which the team can continue to build in the years and years ahead.
Neils name is synonymous with Millwall and hes always had the best interests of the team at heart, handling with good pride, honour and integrity, and he awakens with the best wishes of everyone linked with The Lions.
Both Neil and David leave with their heads held high, forever friends of the team, and I wish them every success in their future careers. They will always be welcome in The Den.
