Neil Harris steps down as Millwall manager
With assistant David Livermore leaving The Den neil Harris has stepped down.
His last game in charge was that the 1-1 draw away to Luton on Wednesday night.
Harris was the longest serving manager in the Sky Bet Championship, having pulled over at Millwall.
The 42-year-old became the Lions all time leading goalscorer scoring 125 target, as a player in two spells with the team.
He guided them in charge while to a marketing and two FA Cup quarter-finals.
Harris leaves both the south east London club 18th and also helped establish Millwall as a Championship side in recent seasons.
Their last league success came Wednesday.
Adam Barrett has been put in temporary cost of the team and will direct them in Saturdays game against Leeds.
Millwall chairman John Berylson paid tribute in a statement about the club website to Harris.
Firstly Id love to place on record my sincere gratitude to Neil for all his hard work, commitment, dedication and inarguable success as director of this great football team, Berylson explained.
Throughout his time in charge we have achieved a lot and so many of his greatest moments as boss will live in the memory of Millwall supporters blessed to have observed and enjoyed them.
Neils accomplishments ensure he is recorded alongside some of the clubs greatest-ever directors, bettering his mythical standing at Millwall.
Together with his coaching team, Neil worked tirelessly to set a culture both on and off the pitch that was befitting of their clubs history and heritage and it has undoubtedly been achieved.
Hes laid enormous foundations from which the club could continue to build in the months and years ahead.
Neils name is synonymous with Millwall and he has always had the very best interests of the club in mind, managing with terrific pride, honour and integrity, and he awakens with the best wishes of everybody connected with The Lions.
Both Neil and David leave with their heads held high, forever friends of the club, and I want them both every success in their future careers. They will always be welcome at The Den.
