Neil Harris steps down as Millwall manager
With assistant David Livermore also leaving The Den neil Harris has stepped down as Millwall manager.
His last game in charge was that the 1-1 draw away to Luton on Wednesday night.
Harris has been the longest serving supervisor that is permanent having taken over in March 2015 following numerous spells as caretaker boss at Millwall.
Even the 42-year-old became the Lions all time leading goalscorer scoring 125 target, for a player in two spells with the club.
He guided them to a promotion and two FA Cup quarter-finals while.
Harris leaves both the south London club 18th in the table and also helped launch Millwall as a Championship side in recent seasons.
Their final league victory came on August 17.
Adam Barrett was put in temporary cost of the group and will lead them at The Den in Saturdays game against second-placed Leeds.
Millwall chairman John Berylson paid tribute at a statement about the official site of the club.
Firstly I would love to place on record my sincere gratitude to Neil for all his hard work, commitment, dedication and inarguable success as director of the great football team, Berylson explained.
Throughout his period in charge weve achieved so much so lots of his greatest moments as manager will dwell long in the memory of Millwall fans blessed to have observed and enjoyed them.
Neils achievements ensure he is listed alongside a number of the club greatest-ever directors, bettering his mythical standing in Millwall.
Alongside his coaching staff, Neil worked tirelessly to set a culture on and off the pitch which was befitting of their clubs heritage and history and this has definitely been attained.
Hes set enormous foundations from which the club could continue to build on in the months and years ahead.
Neils name is synonymous with Millwall and hes always had the absolute best interests of the team in mind, handling with amazing pride, honour and integrity, and he departs with the best wishes of everyone connected with The Lions.
Both Neil and David leave their heads held high, eternally friends of this club, and that I want them both every success in their future careers. They will always be welcome at The Den.
