Julio Jones unconcerned about lack of new contract
In receiving yards first. First in targets. Fourth in receptions.
Seems just like one of the greatest receivers in the NFL — and it’s. Julio Jones ranked in those spots in 2018, but it came at a cost. And never a cost that he’s too keen on.
At $14.3 million in average salary, Jones was the 11th-highest paid wideout in 2018, according to Spotrac. He drops to 12th among recipients in 2019 and has two years left on his deal.

Still, Jones isn’t too worried about his contract status.
„[Falcons owner] Mr. [Arthur] Blank has spoken,” Jones said, through The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. „At the end of the day, his word is golden. He said they are going to get something done between them and my agency. As far as me, I just hold up my end and remain ready.”
To remain prepared, Jones is attending mandatory minicamp after sitting outside OTAs, but isn’t fully participating. Jones sat out minicamp this past year ahead of the Falcons corrected his bargain and promised a contract extension for this offseason.
„I only take it easy. I’m not out here in order to hurry things,” Jones stated. „A lot of times men get hurt coming back. You get MCL, ACL and Achilles, things like this. Especially once you come out here and you are an explosive guy. I want to take my time coming back in to it. You just have to gradually get back into it.
„I’ll be all set.”
Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is on board with Jones’ offseason program — such as not entirely engaging at minicamp and bypassing OTAs.
„He has been here a few from the offseason too at some other times,” Quinn stated. „Again, he is one of those who is close to returning to playing.
„He is the sort of teammate that loves the mentorship bit of it, and he takes that responsibility to assist the group and others.”
