IAN MCCALL TALKS LATEST INJURY WHICH FORCED HIM OFF UFC FIGHT NIGHT 73

Ian McCall was slated to fight Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 73 but unfortunately had to pull out due to injury. McCall (13-5) caught up with MMAOddsBreaker on Episode 115 of The Parting Shot Podcast this Sunday to discuss his most recent injury. Injury that forced him from Dustin Ortiz fight at UFC Fight Night 73″I have a tear in my shoulder, in my labrum and a tear in my own nostrils. I mean I am literally in the physicians now talking about it. It is exactly what it is, we train hard and I am fragile apparently. I must pull out of a good deal of s**t. It sucks, but if you train as hard as I do and you have been doing this as long as I do, its part of the match ” Career Plagued with Injuries”My UFC career has been just been plagued with accidents and it’s frustrating. This is my chief source of income, I still have other things I do however, that is my principal source. I’ve got a little girl to feed, I feed my own and it sucks. However, on a different note, this is my passion; this is precisely what I really like to perform. I’m 31 years old, I am not getting younger I have been in struggles for 13 years. To watch my body neglect me time and time again it’s hard. It is one of these things it makes you question a lot. I’m such a healthy person, my loved ones is like amazingly healthy, and you know my kid has to have a very strict diet. I’ve had my hip, groin tear, that can be awful. I am sure I’ll need to get a hip replacement . I’ve had three hand surgeries. I got into a car crash not long ago and messed up my shoulder. It’s always a thing, but it is far better than having an actual job.” Being Positive and Optimistic”Most of my life I have been a pessimist to be honest. I look at it in different ways, it could be worse, I could be dead. I might have lost complete use of my arm or whatever. There are a lot of things I consider. I have to maintain a positive attitude because I have to be a good role model for team-mates along with my little one. It’s one of those things I am not going to sit around and sulk. That is what it is, I’ll be al right.” Ideas on Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson II at UFC 191″Demetrious is ever evolving and I believe that now he’s found a bit more power in his punches. His overall game is always changing and becoming better. I think he’ll beat Dodson, is he going to finish [him]? I really don’t understand. I believe this is one guy he will have difficulty completing. He ended Horoguchi with one minute left, as far as I wish to beat his face , he is incredible. He’s the precise guy you want as champion in regards to performance. I’m going to go with him on this one for certain.” Loss to John Lineker”Oh man which was huge. I got too emotional; I showed the first round I could definitely overcome him. People were like’Oh he’s a bantamweight’ I don’t care; the man still isn’t very good I must have beat him. I believe I showed that you’re not likely to knock me out even though you’re a huge puncher. My face is going to split open until you knock me out and that is exactly what happened. With me it is outside matters, they always distract me, woman issues or what have you. I just kind of fell apart after that round. I am smart enough to know that I was going to lose that struggle sitting . Anthony Kiedis and Dane White came about and said hi and I am just kind of like, I’m screwed. This was a mental thing, that’s always been my biggest downfall. I have a brand new mental coach, he is my thoughts Sherpa. He is overall made me a better person. As far as my optimism goes, he is a large part of it” Feeling Overlooked at Flyweight Division”I would not say overlooked, there’s other people to discuss. I blew it with John; I screwed up in this fight. So perhaps I don’t deserve to be talked about it. Let us state this injury is just 6 months, they will talk about me then, that’s fine. There are other people who deserve it. It does matter how good I can be or how good I am, it’s not my turn. DJ needs individuals to struggle, the branch needs people to shake and move and create a big stink. I do not mind it, it is cool, anything.” Raising a daughter as one father”Yeah it is not simple; realistically I do not know anything about women. I know how to get one in bed that’s about it. I sit there sometimes and stare at her like’what’s happening?’ Do not cut your hair, don’t put soap in areas, like I do not know. Realistically I’ve a lot aid, I live with my father. My dad got a divorce, he said move in, and I will help you out. My dad’s retired so he kind of plays mommy on a daily basis. My step mom is still about; my kid’s grandma is around so that I do have a great deal of assistance. So I am not going to say I’m doing this alone, because I am not. It takes a village to raise a baby and I got a village of people around me. Even though there are times where I have to take her to the gym, there’s always someone there. She’s pretty damn independent I will take her to the shore; she can run around and swim on her own. She’s going to be alright.” UFC Reebok Uniforms”I’d like to work for a fashion design firm; the sole real fighters I hang out with are either people I am forced to hang out with or my buddies. I hang out with artists, fashion designers and musicians and materials. They are hideous, such as Jose Aldo stated we seem like f***kin Power Rangers. The equipment is actually comfy; clearly Reebok makes a fantastic product. I don’t know who left the design, regardless of what generation we’re in 80’s 90’s, that does not match anything, it’s just awful. But perhaps I’m wrong; maybe I’m looking for something a little cooler looking. Its functionality based equipment; that’s all that matters. It’s an evolution of the sport. We wanted it to shine, sure we are not likely to get paid that much cash but it’s what it is. In case you have a problem then stop, these are the amounts we have to deal with. If you are smart and you are able to market yourself and advertise yourself in ways like I have. I have external patrons; I’ve Layrite, that is like a hair and mustache product. I have got a lot of clothes and lifestyle businesses. I get a lot of exposure from stuff like this. People need to know t to step away from the boxmake money for themselves and have a smart agent.” Ideas on Reebok Deal”Yeah that would have been nice, but at exactly the same time they operate a small business. They operate a multi-billion dollar company that’s a premiere sports league. If you find the machine which is your UFC, from the inside it’s incredible. The people are great; the company layout is just amazing. I would never say anything bad about the way that it’s all run, it’s beautiful if you enjoy company. The thing is they didn’t have to consult us since it’s their business. We’re a commodity; as much as I wish to say cool we ought to be earning money such as baseball, football and basketball. Because we ought to we are actually putting our lives on the line. But we’re not and I don’t want to estimate Urijah Faber, he said’I never got into this for the money’ honestly I get it, I am a businessman.” Outside patrons”Financially I am always going to be ok. I am always going to find ways [to earn money]. I have part of a social networking company, I own a series I host called Direct Endorsement, also it is a significant charity thing. I have other stuff that is going to make me money, therefore I’m going to be fine. I do believe for men that don’t have much else or men that aren’t that smart.
