Georgia v Republic of Ireland Tips & Betting Preview
Denmark ireland and Switzerland are locked to secure Euro 2020 eligibility in Group D, and also together with the latter two playing each other on Saturday, Mick McCarthy will know how crucial their trip into Georgia is to maintain their status.
While its safe to say Ireland arent attacking aspect on the planet, the most free-flowing, theyre still unbeaten, and contemplating their lack of goals, 11 points out of 15 games is an impressive yield.
Georgia, who have scored only two goals fewer than Ireland yet sit seven points behind, held Denmark into a goalless draw and they will not fear Ireland after their narrow, competitively-fought 1-0 defeat in Dublin back in March.
This absence of targets amongst both sides is why Im backing the score. David McGoldricks absence is a huge blow for Mick, that will plump for Brightons Aaron Connolly — freshly called-up following his brace against Spurs. Connolly is an exciting game, however, the encounter of McGoldrick will be missed. It could be a snoozefest.
Im also going to throw into a draw and below 2.5 goals. Ireland five qualifiers have seen under three goals, and I just feel this will likely be a very challenging game for those visitors. Barring a bit of a hammering in Copenhagen, Georgia have appeared streamlined and well-organised throughout qualifying, and I just feel Ireland–that have quite a few different absentees, like the suspended Enda Stevens–will become frustrated due to a lack of firepower.
A low-scoring draw is the most likely outcome in my eyes, although A victory would be enormous for Ireland.
