A team having an Englishman at left-back are currently shaking up the established order and sitting top of this league.
Famalicao have created the ideal start to the season on their return for the first time in 25 years into the Primeira Liga.
The minnows conquer Pacos Ferreira 4-2 on Saturday to give them wins and a draw.
That places them above the standard Portuguese powerhouses of Porto Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, who have won two to every league title bar because 1934.
Famalicao, who are in the north of Portugal, play at the 5,300-seater Estadio Municipal 22 de Junho and are managed by Joao Pedro Sousa, who had been assistant to Marco Silva at Everton and Hull and was voted the Primeira Liga manager of the month for August.

But it may be too soon to be dreaming about Europe nevertheless as Famalicao’s first test of the season is going to be away to Sporting around 23 September.
