Ben Stokes slams The Sun newspaper over story about family tragedy

England cricket hero Ben Stokes has branded The Sun paper”immoral and heartless” once they printed a story in a family catastrophe 31 decades back.
The all-rounder, who had been crucial to England published a statement in reaction following the post featured in the tabloid on Tuesday to the story on Twitter.
He wrote:”Now The Sun has seen fit to publish exceptionally debilitating, sensitive and personal details about events from the personal lives of my family going back 31 years.
„It is difficult to find words that adequately describe such low and despicable behavior, disguised as journalism. I cannot conceive of anything contemptuous, heartless or more immoral into my family’s feelings and circumstances.
„For more than three years, my family has worked hard to manage the private trauma inevitably associated with those events and has taken great care to keep confidential what were deeply personal and traumatic events.
„On Saturday, The Sun delivered a’reporter’ to my parents’ home in New Zealand to question themout of the blue, on this exceptionally disturbing subject.
„If that wasn’t bad enough,” The Sun believe it’s acceptable to sensationalise our personal tragedy to their landing page. To use my name as a excuse to violate the privacy and lives of – in particular – my parents, will be still disgusting.
„I am conscious that my public brings with it consequences for me personally that I accept entirely. I, however, will not permit my profile to be utilized as an excuse to intrude on the rights of other household members, my spouse, my kids or my parents.
„They are entitled to a personal life of their own. The choice to release these details has grave and lifelong consequences for my mom in particular.
„This is the lowest form of journalism, focused only on chasing sales with absolutely no regard to the devastation caused to lives because of this.
„It is totally out of sequence. The article also contains inaccuracies which has resisted the damage. We need to have a critical look at how we let our media.
„Despite the fact that this has now been made public, I do please ask all concerned to respect my family’s privacy and right to house life.”
The Sun has released the following announcement to Sky:”The Sun has the utmost sympathy for Ben Stokes and his mom but it is just right to point out the story was told with all the co-operation of a family member who supplied details, given photographs and posed for pictures.
„The catastrophe is also a matter of public record and has been the topic of comprehensive front page publicity in New Zealand at that time.
„The Sun has huge respect for Ben Stokes and we were delighted to observe his athletic heroics this summer. He was contacted prior to book and at no point did he or his representatives ask us not to release the narrative.”
