Ashes 2019: James Anderson hungry to keep playing as he sets sights on return for winter tours

James Anderson is”hungry” to maintain playing cricket for England because he plans a return to the group for their winter tours of New Zealand and South Africa together with the seamer battling to return to full fitness against his ongoing calf injury.
England’s all-time top Evaluation wicket-taker suffered the injury whilst playing the at County Championship for Lancashire and he was fit to play at Edgbaston from the Ashes opener, he was able to bowl four overs before suffering a reoccurrence of this injury.
Anderson stepped his recovery up from playing his county’s next XI side from the lead up to the Test at his home ground Old Trafford but was unable as he had been ruled out for the whole series to overcome the calf injury.
„I’m just about getting over the disappointment on being in a position to play a role in this series and looking ahead to what I can do in the long run,” Anderson told Sky Sports.
„I’m definitely hungry and keen to keep playing for England. I have been bowling as well as I have, I bowled quite a lot at the start of the season and was in very good form until I got wounded in an time.
„I’d like looking too far ahead, I just need to receive my calf sorted and appear to another show to see if I could get myself match to New Zealand and if not, then South Africa.
„Who knows how much time that I can play , as long as I can keep myself healthy and maintain bowling well then I wish to keep playing as long as you can.”
Meanwhile, the speculation on whether Joe Root must stay as England captain surfaced after the 185-run triumph of Australia watched them retain the Ashes.
Anderson ignored the ideas of substituting Root, insisting the batsman gets the ability to push the negative once a brand new head coach is made.
„I believe Joe is the right man for the task,” Anderson explained. „He’s worked tirelessly to push this group in the perfect direction during the past few decades.
„That was hard with changes in staff in the team, such as Alastair Cook retiring, and trying to find the perfect balance of team to go ahead but I think he’s done a great job.
„The key for this Exam aspect for Joe Root along with the coach that simplifies Trevor Bayliss is they have exactly the identical vision for your team and pushes them in the perfect direction”
