Raheen House to have Melbourne Cup prep run
William Haggas plans to give Raheen House an outing at Australia .
The Newmarket trainer has earmarked the Caulfield Cup on October 19 together with all the Geelong Cup.
The five year-old, among just two horses to have beaten dual Arc winner Enable, finished down the field on his latest start in last month Ebor in York – but he’d been put in Listed and Group race company to the Knavesmire.
Haggas said:”Raheen House is in quarantine at the moment, and he is due to visit Australia shortly.
„I think he’s going to run into the Caulfield Cup if he has in. If he doesn’t get in he would likely go for the Geelong Cup.
„I think he wants to possess a race at first before the Melbourne Cup. He’ll run really well down there, and that I really don’t believe the two-mile excursion in the Melbourne Cup would be no issue.”
The Classic handler considers a few things conspired against him.
Haggas included:”He got a lot back, also (jockey) James (Doyle) stated he did not really have that early speed.
„James said they went challenging, however, and he only got in the wrong place – but that is the way it is.
„The ground may have been been somewhat quick for him”
