Bastian Schweinsteiger: World Cup-winning midfielder retires at age of 35

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manchester United and former Germany has now retired.
The 35-year-old announced his decision two weeks after the conclusion of the main League Soccer season. His team, Chicago Fire, finished 17th.
The time has come, he said. To the lovers, you created this incredible time for me.
Schweinsteiger won the 2014 World Cup with Bayern with Germany, along with eight Bundesliga titles.
He attained 121 caps for Germany between 2004 and 2016.
The midfielder played with 500 times for Bayern – in which he won the Champions League – before joining Manchester United for #14.4m in 2015 but neglected to accommodate into the Premier League, making 13 league starts in two years.
He was made to train with the under-23s at Old Trafford by then boss Jose Mourinho – who said he regretted his choice.
Schweinsteiger performed on his debut and joined Chicago Fire on a free transfer in March 2017. Fire finished third in his first year to reach the play-offs but have fought since.
Schweinsteiger played for Germany seven consecutive major championships, directing the team to the final of Euro 2008, a World Cup win, just two World Cup semi-finals and the semi-finals of both Euro 2012 and 2016.
He is among the greatest players in German history, said manager Joachim Low.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saidthat the doors at Bayern are open to their former player.
A excellent career is coming to a conclusion. Basti has won all there is to win in world soccer, he said.
