Bevan French grabbed his Betfred Super League hat-trick as Wigan moved a step closer to securing second place.
The Warriors had been under the cosh for a little while and got off to a shaky beginning, but all shortly changed that as Wigan led 14-0 at the break.
French finished his hat-trick five moments while tries from Zak Hardaker and Thomas Leuluai place the Warriors in control before teenaged half-back Harry Smith came off the bench to mark his first team debut with an effort.
Oliver Gildart and dan Sarginson grabbed tries , while Catalans’ points all came with Michael McIlorum, from Warriors and Lewis Tierney both scoring tries while Sam Tomkins added the positions.
Since they camped inside the half of Wigan, catalans dominated the opening 20 minutes, however strong defence against the likes of Liam Farrell, George Williams and Tony Clubb assured the Dragons were unable to cross over.
When Farrell had been found guilty of a dangerous late hit on Greg 23, wigan discovered themselves down to 12 men on 18 minutes.
Wigan bombed a terrific chance to open the scoring in the 22nd minute when the ball came loose before Oliver Gildart did the exact same, and Williams hacked , but unfortunately for the Warriors that the ball did not bounce the perfect way and the Dragons recovered possession.
The Warriors made for not taking their opportunities as a ball collected from Williams to go over Catalans pay. He was hit late with the knees from Mickael Simon because he grounded the ball that led to a penalty try.
Hardaker converted the penalty and the try for an 8-0 lead.
French added another try because he showed a lot of composure and speed to conquer the covering defence following an error from Arthur Romano – the Dragons looked a beaten side and Hardaker’s conversion made it 14-0.
French had five minutes from the half since he stepped beyond Romano and Mickael Goudemand to touch down, to complete his hat-trick. Hardaker converted as Wigan led 20-0.
The Dragons refused to lie down and they shortly found themselves in the scoreboard as Wigan hooker McIlorum went over from close selection after getting the ball back in the restart.
It was Catalans’ turn and full benefit was taken by Wigan. As he was able to find the ball away to Hardaker, who stepped on to score bevan went from try-scorer to supplier. Wigan were from sight at 24-6 although the full-back was unable to convert.
Leuluai extended Wigan’s lead further as he danced his way before Smith was able to score in his very first real involvement.
Joe and gildart Burgess joined down the left until the latter delivered a reunite infield to get down, and then he converted his own score.
Wigan hit the 40 mark after French score and again turned provider as he murdered on Sarginson’s kick through for his center.
Before Gildart had the last say with a campaign to maintain that the success, the Dragons managed to grab their second attempt through Tierney.
