Neymar will retire at Paris Saint-Germain unless wage demands drop, says La Liga president
La Liga president Javier Tebas believes Neymar”will retire PSG unless he enhances his salary” after talks broke down over his proposed return to Barcelona.
The club along with Real Madrid were interested in bringing back the forward into Spain this summer, but before the transfer deadline, Neymar agreed to stay at the Parc des Princes.
The 27-year-old, who remains the planet’s most expensive footballer after his #200m ($222) proceed in 2017, is under contract at PSG until 2022.
„In light of the current marketplace, Neymar will retire at PSG unless he lowers his salary and also his PSG claims,” Tebas said.
„The problem of not coming back today [into Barcelona] must do with his own departure to PSG.
„It had been an off-market move, it was only feasible to happen with’traps’ to raise sponsorships.
„When you take action out of the marketplace, it is not possible to sell again at this price”
Brazil boss Tite has confirmed the forwards is in contention for choice ahead of the side evening despite playing a game for PSG this year.
Neymar suffered a foot injury at Brazil’s 2-0 friendly victory over Qatar earlier this season, which was the last time he played at a competitive fixture.
