Report: MLB warns players that sexual performance enhancing drugs may contain prohibited ingredients
(CNN) — Major League Baseball allegedly has cautioned its players who over-the-counter sex tablets could contain prohibited ingredients that would result in unsuccessful performance enhancing drugs tests.
ESPN obtained a memo sent by the group officer.
The memo states in part thatthe goods are usually contaminated with prohibited and harmful components, ESPN documented.
CNN asked the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball to get a copy of the memo. The league said it doesnt make memos to clubs.
The use of over-the-counter efficiency enhancement tablets — generally seen at convenience stores — is prevalent among baseball players, ESPN reported citing unnamed sources.
The US Food and Drug Administration has cautioned the public previously about using enhancement products.
Donald D. Ashleydirector of the Office of Compliance in the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told CNN last year thatthat the FDA has been combating the retail sale of penile enhancement drug products that are often called dietary supplements and that contain hidden and potentially dangerous active drug components.
