Report: MLB warns players that sexual performance enhancing drugs may contain prohibited ingredients
(CNN) — Major League Baseball allegedly has cautioned its players who over-the-counter sex tablets may contain banned ingredients which would result in failed performance enhancing drugs tests.
ESPN obtained a memo delivered to the 30 clubs by the league officer.
The memo states in part thatthe goods are often contaminated with banned and unsafe ingredients, ESPN reported.
CNN requested the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball . The team said it doesnt create public memos into clubs.
The use of sexual efficiency enhancement tablets — generally seen at convenience stores — is widespread among baseball players, ESPN reported citing unnamed sources.
The US Food and Drug Administration has warned the public in the past about using enhancement solutions.
Donald D. Ashley, director of the Office of Compliance at the FDAs Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, told CNN last year thatthe FDA was combating the retail sale of penile enhancement drug products which are often misrepresented as dietary supplements and that include hidden and potentially harmful active drug ingredients.
